Clear Lake Education Center Stewards Group
Here's What We've Been Up To
The Clear Lake Education Center Stewards Group is proud of the projects they have been able to complete, but we could not have completed them without the help of volunteers and without the significant contributions from companies, organizations, and individuals. We would like to thank all of those people who have made our projects possible.

If you would like to be part of making things happen at the Education Center, contact us and find out how you can join our team!
Project 1. Giving Tuesday

The Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been set aside as a day of giving for nonprofits. The Stewards Group Goal for this project is to raise at least $1500 through challenges and contributions. We ask area businesses and organizations to match what is raised in an effort to double that amount.
This is an annual project with the hope that many small contributions will add up to make a BIG difference.
Project 2. Public Days
The Stewards Group has worked with Education Center staff to provide an opportunity for the general public to visit the camp and experience some of the exceptional program elements. In 2019, we partnered with the Hiawatha National Forest to wish Smokey Bear a Happy 75th Birthday, complete with cake and games! We look forward to being able to host more Public Day in the future!

Project 3. Internship Support
An important part of staffing the Education Center and building capacity has been the creation of its intern program. The Stewards Group has supported the Education Center's efforts by providing funds to hire interns.
Project 4. Aluminum Dock Repair
Over several seasons, the aluminum dock from which we launch canoes and supervise the activity had some issues develop. With the knowledge and determination of volunteers and the generosity of Madigan's Hardware in Munising, we were able to get that taken care of.

Project 5. Kitchen Wall Repair
Water leaks over time left the kitchen wall behind the sinks stained and unsightly. With the help of John Swanberg, Stewards Group member Greg Roll too care of that wall. It now looks much better.
Thank you!!
